Upstream Canoe Travel - Trad Skills

There is nothing more satisfying than making progress with relative ease upstream on a canoe expedition and having the knowledge that having these skills open up some really cool options for expeditions around the world... However these are skills that most canoeists don't practice very often if at all so we've put together a day of upstream canoe skills in the Grade 1/2 environment of the River Severn Gorge at Iron Bridge.

We will be looking at the skills and techniques to make upstream travel feel alot more comfortable and easy from how to track your canoe up a Grade 2 rapid as well as how to pole up a fast flowing grade 1 rapid and whilst we are there we will dive into the though process and some other techniques to make upstream travel in a canoe comfortable.

We will meet you at Dale End carpark in Iron bridge and paddle down under the historic iron bridge before heading down to the bottom of the Grade 2 Jackfields rapids where we will stop and begin our journey back upstream to where it all began.

We recommend that you bring your canoe and equipment however we do have a range of equipment that you can borrow. Upon booking you'll receive the final course details and kit list by email.
